The
leaf motif surrounded by lacy filigree, suggestive of the beautiful screens
and grillwork of the East, evokes a feeling of Arabian Nights
romance. Recommended for Intermediate lace knitters.
The
rectangular scarf (above left) begins with a provisional cast on for
the first edging, after which it is knit to the other end and finished
with I-cord. Finished size is approximately 10 inches wide and 63 inches
long. Sample is knit in Country Silk "Demi" Misty Pearl.
Needles:
3.5 mm (US 4) needles or size to obtain gauge
Other supplies: 3.5 mm (US E/4) or larger crochet hook (for provisional
cast on), smooth waste yarn
The
triangular scarf (above right) begins by casting on at the lower edge,
after which rows are decreased to create the triangular shape. I-cord
finishes the top edge. Finished size is approximately 60 inches across
top and 27 inches down centre. Sample is knit in Country Silk "Demi"
Denim.
Needles:
24 inch circular needles in these sizes:
4 mm (US 6);
3.5 mm (US 4);
3 mm (US 3);
or sizes to obtain gauge

Gauge for either scarf with 3.5 mm needles over lace pattern (special
chart provided in pattern):
